The portion of the week will be discussed—main themes, historical and cultural context, literary style, etc.

TBS Beginning Hebrew

On hold till after the High Holy Days

This is a beginner’s Hebrew reading class which will move to reading our prayers from the Hebrew as we progress. Rudimentary grammar and prayer vocabulary will be included.
• In our first class, we will be introduced to a number of the letters in the aleph-bet and we will begin to drill decoding (reading the Hebrew without comprehension)
• We will also learn a bit about the history of Hebrew as a biblical language and as a modern language.

TBS Adult B’nei Mitzvah Class

On hold till after the High Holy Days

• Class will be 1-½ years –
• Cost will be approximately $800 + cost of books, final cost to be determined based on the number of participants (minimum of 6 participants to hold the class)
• Ability to decode Hebrew is required – if you need to learn how to read Hebrew, you must concurrently take the Hebrew reading class
• This course will cover structure and history of Jewish prayer, how to chant from the Torah, leading of prayers, strategies for Torah interpretation, and up to 3 private one-on-one lessons to learn Torah portion 
• Introduction to Judaism class is highly recommended
